Wire Earrings Tutorial

The other day I broke one of my favorite large hoop earrings and just because I hate throwing stuff out I figured a way to turn them in to a pair of new and even better earrings.
And I took pictures so I can show you! :)


Things you will need:
-a pair of hoop earring or two wire bangles (if you don't have these at hand,you can always use some thick wire)
-wire cutters
-thin wire in colors of choice
-earring hooks

Let's get started!
Step1
Bend the earrings (or wire) to the shape you want. I used a parfume bottle to get the shape.You can leave it the way it is too. :)

Step2
Get your thin jewelry wire and wrap the earrings with it. You don't want to leave this step out,this will keep the thin wire from slipping around on your earrings.

Step3
Make a loop for the earring hooks.

Step4
Start wrapping the colored wire on the earrings.

Step5
When you are done with one color,be sure to wrap the wire many times to secure it.

Step6
Add colors as you go. I used light purple,purple and dark blue wire.

Step7
Add the earring hooks to the loop you made on the beggining and you are done! :)

DIY Necklace Displays

I plan to attend more craft fairs this summer,so I needed to update my displays. There are a lot of tutorials out there for boards,picture frame displays and jewelry trees,but I wanted something that makes the necklaces stand out.
So I found this tutorial that is perfect for what I wanted. They have a pattern for it too. Here is my version:

Instead of using fabric I covered the cardboard displays with leftover wallpaper.
Since my bracelet and ring displays are black they will match nicely together.

It was pretty easy and quick to make, I was done with 2 displays in 2O minutes.
Now I just need to cover my earring board with some black fabric and dye some white tablecloths black or purple and I am ready.

Cat Plush (with pattern)

Just finished the little guy today. I call him Samu. :) The original idea and pattern can be found here.Samu is made from a vintage dress and stuffed with pieces from an old pillow.

Cats leave pawprints on your heart embroidery close up.

And the cutest little face ever. :)

He sits with my books on the shelf now.


And now for the pattern.Here is his body:

The legs and tail.(they are a bit hard to turn inside out and stuff,but it's worth the trouble)

I plan on making him a girlfriend too.I don't want him to feel lonely... :)
I'm thinking floral print fabric and a red heart with a paw embroidery. :)

Simple Fabric Box Tutorial

I needed some kind of box for all the thread that was laying around my sewing machine.And I took pictures to show you how I made it! :)
It's really easy, takes only a few minutes to make one, and looks much better then the plastic container I used before.Oh, and it's from recycled jeans.

You will need:
-a piece of a pair of old jeans
-fabric of choice
-scissors
-measuring tape
-pins

Step1
Cut out your box from both materials.(mine measured 24 x 19 cm)


Step2
Pin and sew wrond sides together.Don't forget to leave open space for turning it inside out.

Step3
Turn it inside out and iron it flat.

Step4
Sew down the sides.

Step5
Fold one corner on the other like pictured.Pin the two corners together.

It should look like this when you unfold it.

Step6
Measure and mark 5 cm on the side of the corner.

Step7
Sew it down.

Step8
Now sew a straight line from the side of your box to the end of the line wich you sewed in the previous step. (sorry if the instructions aren't really clear,but hey,at least the pictures are! :)
Step9
This is how your corner should look like when your done.

Do each corner the same and your box is finished! :)

Elephant Pillows

A few years ago I tie dyed a scarf for myself,but I never wore it so the other day I decided to sew some pillows from it.The funny thing is,its an old cloth diaper.(my old cloth diaper) :)
It's purple with elephants so whats not to love?


I used black and white acrylic paint for the stencils,wich I found here and here.
I took apart an old pillow for the stuffing.I love the fact that this project cost me nothing and is from all reused materials.


I have an awful,boring brown couch wicj takes up half of my room,so I'm going to cover it with lovely,colorful pillows to chear it up.
I didn't make a tutorial,because it's as easy as it can get.
1.cut the cloth diaper in half
2.stencil the design on each half
3.fold it in half
4.sew it up
5.stuff it

Dress + Scarf = Cowl

This is my project for our first LXC craft challenge.The theme was Warm Up so this was perfect. :)
To make the cowl I followed Miamoonlove's Scarf Wrap Tutorial.

I started with a vintage dress and a mens scarf and turned it in to this:

I really love the grey and black color of the scarf but it was too manly to just wear it as it was.Plus I love cowls and I loved Miamoonloves tutorial. :)
