Recycled Button Box Tutorial

I came up with this idea when I saved a bunch of vintage buttons by cutting them from old, unwanted clothes I found in the garage. So here's a small tutorial on how to recycle round cheese boxes in to something every crafter needs.

Step 1.
Cover the outside of the box with newspaper.

Step 2.
Cut two circles from the newspaper and cover the inside of the box too.

Step 3.
Cut a circle from cardboard and make two holes in the middle. This will be the button on top of the box.

Step 4.
Cut the same size circle from the paper napkin.

Step 5.
Cover the cardboard button with decoupage glue and carefully smooth the paper napkin on it.Push a pencil through the holes. Now your button is finished.

Step 7.
Glue the cardboard button on top and your button box is done! :)

Now you just need to fill it up with pretty buttons. If you want you can decorate the box more with small buttons or decoupage some images on it.Hope you enjoyed! :)

Sewing for myself

At last I had time and managed to make some new stuff for myself.I focus so much on the fair, birthday gifts and swaps that I forget to make the items I planned for ages.
Here is the hooded scarf that I made on sewing class.I'm really proud, since this was only the third time I sewed on a machine.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I made a picture so you can see how big it is.The right one is a normal sized hood.

I was drooling over these slouchy dread hats for a long time. When I got my sewing machine I had an idea of making one from an unwanted sweater. And finally today I made it!
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
But I didn't forget about the fair either.I made these earring hooks from wire for the Lego earrings.

And last but not least,I made my shop logo!!! I always wanted a shop,so since I'm making stuff for the fair, why not fill the shop with it too?
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I found a Serbian version of Etsy that is totally free.I don't have anything listed yet,I'm planning to open after the fair is over.
Now to work on the Christmas Ornament swap.

Old Lady Slavica

Look what I have!A new (old) toy! :)
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
And yes,its been only a few hours and I already have an elephant on my sewing machine. :)
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
She needs some love and a good scrubbing, but it was used only two times by the previous owner and everything functions good on it.Shes been sitting in a dark attic for several years.
Oh,and I won this amazing hat from The Bungaloe Market at Green Eyed Monster's giveaway.

I didn't even remember that I entered. :D

Polymer Clay Button Tutorial

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I use a lot of buttons for my projects, but here buttons can be a little expensive and its hard to find them in bright colors. So I decided to make my own! :)
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
You will need:
-polymer clay
-buttons of all shapes and sizes
-something to shape the buttons-I used a plastic spool from an embroidery floss
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Step1.Roll out a piece of clay and cut a circle from it with the spool.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Step2.You will need to shape the edges a bit to get rid of the cutting.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Step3.Get your favorite shaped button and press it in to the clay.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Step4.You will see the little dots in the middle from the holes.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Step5.With help of a needle or a crochet hook make the button holes.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Step6.If you use a button with a pretty pattern you can make your buttons even more realistic. Now just bake them according to the instructions on the clay.
This is the easiest that it can get. :)
Oh and thank you Dessah for the lovely buttons and button box! :)

Creations for the fair

I'm making good progress with my stuff for the fair. And I was lucky that I had a chance for an early start,so I have plenty of time to plan everything and to make good quality items.
Every evening while watching TV I crochet a few pouches.I have 13 of them finished, waiting to be sewed up and embellished with felt.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I was really lucky to find some bright, happy colored yarn and I'm loving it.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I also made a bunch of button rings. My most favorite items so far!
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
They are hand painted wooden and plastic buttons with a coat of clear spray paint sewed on a crochet ring base.

Once I finish the Christmas ornaments for the swap and a wet felted bag I'm back on making earrings, key chains and mug cozies.
